Claire Xidis

Claire Xidis currently concentrates on environmental and unfair trade practices litigation. In this role, she is responsible for developing liability against large corporate defendants, working with expert witnesses, and conducting legal research and motions practice. Claire has also represented catastrophic injury clients, including in the 2005 Graniteville train derailment class action on behalf of hundreds of South Carolina residents seeking recovery for property damage from a deadly chlorine spill.

With several years of experience in occupational disease and toxic tort litigation, Claire prepared and managed mesothelioma and lung cancer cases for trial on West Virginia’s exigent asbestos docket, established for the efficient resolution of cases filed on behalf of the most seriously ill asbestos victims in the state. She was a member of the trial team in the 2002 West Virginia Mass Consolidated Asbestos Trial resulting in a verdict for the plaintiffs against Union Carbide Corporation. Claire is the co-author of Household Exposure Cases: Successfully Overcoming Challenges with Motley Rice member Anne McGinness Kearse.

Claire clerked with the Honorable Margaret B. Seymour of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. As a law student, she worked with the National Education Association, the New York City Law Department and the Partnership for Law and Development in New Delhi, India. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the South Carolina Association for Justice.
