Erwin Contamination
Tennessee’s Erwin area is home to residents reporting serious illnesses that may have been been caused by exposure to nuclear contamination from the Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) facility owned by Babcock & Wilcox and its subsidiaries.
Motley Rice LLC, along with co-counsel Rogers, Laughlin, Nunnally, Hood & Crum, P.C., and Napoli Bern Ripka & Associates LLP, is reviewing potential contamination cases involving people who lived, worked or went to school in the immediate vicinity of the facility between 1957 and 2010 and have experienced serious health problems or the death of a loved one that may have been caused by nuclear exposure.
If you or someone you know has experienced a serious illness potentially linked to the nuclear enriching facility, contact environmental contamination attorneys Fidelma Fitzpatrick or Jonathan Orent by email or call 1.800.868.0020.

The reported illnesses include breast cancer, ovarian cancer, thyroid cancer and leukemia, some of which have been closely linked to radiation exposure.

Babcock & Wilcox
Local members of the Erwin area have come forward alleging that the nearby Babcock & Wilcox nuclear facility negligently and improperly disposed of chemical and radioactive waste. Forced to close in 2009, the plant has been criticized for safety violations and cited for non-compliance with federal regulations. Independent testing in the summer of 2010 also confirmed on-going contamination in the Nolichucky River as far as 25 miles away from the plant.
Babcock & Wilcox currently faces federal lawsuits filed by Motley Rice on behalf of community members in Pennsylvania's Apollo-Parks area who lived or worked near two nuclear enriching facilities, one a Babcock & Wilcox plant, and have since suffered from chronic and rare forms of cancer.
