Celebrex
Pfizer, maker of Celebrex, issued a press release December 17, 2004, indicating that Celebrex may have increased the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients who took the drug as part of a long-term study. The study, sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, was halted due to data indicating Celebrex patients developed over two times the number of cardiovascular events than other patients not taking Celebrex.
Celebrex, a member of a new category of drugs called "Cox inhibitors", has provided pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects for millions of pain sufferers. The advertised advantage of this new class of drugs over the traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen, is there are supposedly fewer gastrointestinal problems occurring during treatment with Cox inhibitors.
If you or someone you know, has been injured by taking Celebrex, you may be entitled to compensation. If you would like to explore your legal rights, please provide the following information and it will be forwarded to a Motley Rice pharmaceutical attorney.
