MOTLEY RICE ATTORNEY ELECTED TO SCTLA BOARD OF GOVERNORS

South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association Welcomes New Member

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (October 27, 2005) - Attorney James W. Ledlie of Motley Rice LLC, one of the nation's largest plaintiffs' litigation firms, has been elected to the Board of Governors for the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association (SCTLA). Ledlie was inducted during the SCTLA annual convention held in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Based in Columbia, S.C., the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association was founded more than 40 years ago by a small group of trial lawyers with the motto, "Keeping South Carolina Families Safe." SCTLA has since grown into a statewide organization with more than 1300 members and serves as a valuable resource to its members, providing continuing education to update their skills and keep them abreast of changes in the law. The motto and top priority of SCTLA remains the same as the organization continues working with the South Carolina General Assembly as an advocate for the right of individual consumers.

"We are extremely proud that James will be representing Motley Rice in SCTLA's efforts to keep our state safe," stated Anne Kearse, Motley Rice member and practice group leader. "His discipline, dedication and desire to help those in need, make him a powerful addition to SCTLA's Board of Governors."

Ledlie began work with Motley Rice attorneys in 2002 after clerking for judges in both the state and federal court systems. He currently focuses his efforts within the firm's Occupational Disease and Toxic Tort practice group, working on asbestos litigation throughout the United States and Canada. He graduated with a B.A. from Wofford College and earned a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is licensed to practice in the state of South Carolina. Ledlie also serves as a Captain in the United States Army Reserves, Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, the Army's law department and the oldest law firm in the nation, where he is responsible for a wide-range of practices from military law and criminal prosecution to international law and legal assistance-both in the U.S. and abroad.
