Airport body scanners discussed by aviation attorney Mary Schiavo
Former Department of Transportation Inspector General and Motley Rice member attorney Mary Schiavo discusses the body scanners that South Carolina's Charleston International Airport has plans to include in its arsenal of security tools in 2011. Currently in use at the airport are metal detectors, chemical swabbing and bomb-sniffing dogs. Despite some controversy over whether body scanners are too invasive, Schiavo says that they are necessary and will make security screening far more effective.
