Mary Schiavo dicusses need for in-depth passenger screening
Motley Rice attorney and former Department of Transportation Inspector General Mary Schiavo discusses aviation security rules and the need for more in-depth screening measures if the U.S. is serious about protecting passengers from terrorist attacks. The U.S. currently relies too heavily on profiling, she says, and needs "to get the brains of the world working" in a "worldwide coalition" to gain support for the purchase and implementation of the equipment needed for adequate safety screening.
