Aviation attorney Mary Schiavo discusses Northwest Airlines flight 188 and federal crackdown on pilot fatigue
Mary Schiavo, aviation attorney and former U.S. Transportation Department Inspector General, discusses the recent federal investigation into Northwest Airlines flight 188, saying that pilot fatigue may have caused the flight's two pilots to overshoot their destination and be out of radio contact for more than an hour. Schiavo says that this incident illustrates one of the largest problems in the aviation industry and is one of many examples causing the FAA and NTSB to take a second look at the rules governing pilot rest.
