Aviation lawyer discusses holiday travel and security

As tensions mount over the more personally intrusive security measures being taken, the aviation industry is defending its decision to be more aggressive in regards to security protocols that may make some passengers uncomfortable. This includes full body scanners and pat-downs using the inside of hands and fingers.

Currently, an estimated 27 million people will be traveling over Thanksgiving weekend alone, and the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) is adamant that these precautions are necessary to keep Americans safe during high-traffic holiday travel. Aviation attorney Mary Schiavo acknowledges these security measures are more invasive but agrees with the TSA’s decision to implement the additional security measures.

Because of the additional security measures, passengers are urged to plan accordingly and allot more time and patience for their holiday travels.

Listen to Schiavo speak about aviation security in an interview on WBT News Talk Radio.
