FAA wants to keep bird strike records confidential
Aviation attorney Mary Schiavo comments on the FAA's move to keep its records of where and how often commercial airplanes are hit by flying birds from the public. While the FAA says that exposing such records to the public would keep airports and air carriers from reporting bird damage, the National Transportation Safety Board argues that public awareness is vital to any safety program.
