First Day Festival: Motley Rice celebrates a new school year with the City of Charleston
On Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., downtown Charleston will be filled with excitement at the 10th Annual First Day Festival as thousands of children and their families gather to celebrate the start of the new school year. This special event will be held in Liberty Square, located between the S.C. Aquarium and the Charleston Maritime Center. Charleston County School students return to class on August 22.
To help them prepare, the City of Charleston hosts this back-to-school festival, offering free school supplies, education exhibits, healthy snacks, free tours of the S.C. Aquarium and the Fort Sumter Museum, free boat rides of the Charleston harbor, face painting and more.
Motley Rice is proud to participate in this event to help support local families, so be sure to join us for this family-friendly, free day of fun!
The First Day Festival is still in need of school supplies, volunteers and wish-list items to help make the event a success. Visit the website for a list of needed items and more information about how you can help.
