Motley Rice securities attorney Badge Humphries discusses the recent certification of a class action lawsuit against Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. The lawsuit alleges that Schwab is liable for violations of the South Carolina Uniform Securities Act committed by convicted Ponzi-scheme organizer Al Parish. U.S. District Judge David C. Norton certified the class of over 50 investors on December 9, 2009, and on February 2, 2010, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit denied Schwab's petition for permission to appeal.
