National Mesothelioma Awareness Day discussed by Motley Rice attorney Anne Kearse

Motley Rice Asbestos attorney Anne Kearse  did an interview with Charleston, SC WSCS Live 5 News on Sunday, September 26, 2010 to discuss mesothelioma and the risks of asbestos exposure to South Carolina residents.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) has been advocating for Congress to declare September 26th as National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.  They encourage all those whose lives have been touched by the disease to take a moment to educate and advocate.  As a Motley Rice asbestos attorney, Kearse has years of experience litigating mesothelioma cases on behalf of asbestos victims.  During the interview, she used her experience to discuss the potential legal rights of at-risk individuals should they ever be devastated by the disease.

The average patient age of a mesothelioma victim is 65 years old.  The average length of survival following diagnosis is less than a year. Many mesothelioma patients are veterans who were exposed to asbestos during service. Other people at high risk because of their occupations include miners, shipyard workers, insulators, railroad employees, electricians, steamfitters, pipefitters, boilermakers, auto mechanics, chemical and power plant workers and auto mechanics.
