Safety checks part of Massey settlement

The Charleston Gazette (West Virginia) reports that Massey Energy Co. agreed to a deal in one of two cases filed against Massey President Don Blankenship and company board members by Motley Rice attorneys on behalf of corporate shareholders. Alleged company mismanagement and a lack of environmental and safety compliance initiated the suits. The terms to which Massey has agreed will provide improved worker safety and reinforcement of compliance controls regarding environmental law and regulation.
