Defective Seats

Motley Rice, along with co-counsel Steven H. Ring, P.C. and the Law Offices of William F. Askinazi, currently seeks plaintiffs to represent Maryland citizens in a class action brought on behalf of Maryland residents who own certain cars which may have defective seatbacks and are manufactured by Chrysler, Ford, General Motors ("GM") and Saturn.

The suit seeks economic redress to enable those who own cars with defective seatbacks to have them repaired. The suit alleges that these automakers knowingly manufactured car seatbacks that are too weak to protect the cars' occupants in foreseeable collisions and that the seats in certain models are unreasonably prone to collapse, especially in moderate speed rear impact collisions. Seat collapse can cause serious injury or death to the vehicle's operator and to its occupants. The Court of Appeals of the State of Maryland has unanimously upheld Plaintiffs' claims on potential safety defects.
