One 9/11 lawsuit remains by victim's family hoping to find answers about security breaches in aviation industry

The family of Mark Bavis, a passenger who was on board United Airlines Flight 175 on September 11, 2001 chose to opt out of the federal Victim Compensation Fund following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and is still seeking a trial date in an effort to find answers and "prove in a public courtroom what they and their lawyers believe was a case of gross negligence by United and other defendants that allowed the hijackers to board Flight 175."

Iraq veteran filed burn pit lawsuit over exposure to burn pits while serving abroad

Iraq veteran Tim Wymore suffers from three lesions on his brain, a lesion on his eye, a blood disorder, a damaged esophagus and various abdominal problems that ultimately led to the removal of most of his colon. He is one of hundreds of military veterans and personnel who have filed burn pit lawsuits against military defense contractors KBR and Halliburton alleging that exposure to the hazardous toxins generated by open-air burn pits on bases in Iraq and Afghanistan caused them to suffer from serious illnesses.

Terrorism financing lawsuit against Arab Bank remains on track for late 2011 trial

On Tuesday, July 13, 2010, Judge Nina Gershon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York issued sanctions against Arab Bank, stating that the jury "will be instructed that, based on the defendant's failure to produce documents, it may, but is not required to, infer that the defendant provided financial services to organizations designated by the United States as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, and to individuals affiliated with the FTOs."
