Motley Rice LLC negotiated a settlement resolving litigation against Twitter, Inc. and two former senior executives. The preliminary settlement came the Friday before jury selection was scheduled to begin on Monday Sept. 20, 2021. The case would have been a rare event – a securities fraud class action jury trial. Shareholders alleged that the social media giant misrepresented its daily user growth in 2015 to inflate its stock price.

The Flemish Region of Belgium on September 14 served a Notice of Default against 3M Belgium and 3M Company alleging the company violated the nation’s Environmental Act and possibly international laws by discharging per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), or perflourinated chemicals from its industrial facility in Zwijndrecht, near Antwerp, Belguim, causing extensive environmental contamination. The Minister of Justice and Enforcement, Environment, Energy and Tourism of the Flemish Government formally issued today’s notice both in Belgium and at 3M Company’s headquarters in the State of Minnesota.

As we mark the 20th memorial of the September 11, 2001 attacks, we will stop and reflect on that horrific day. Current events make these memories all the more vivid and painful.
