First Responders Honored: Motley Rice to sponsor the The FealGood Foundation's gala honoring 9/11 community contributors
Motley Rice member Don Migliori will attend the 2012 FealGood Foundation's (FGF) Best of the Best Gala on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Watermill Inn in Smithtown, NY. The gala pays tribute to people who continue to make significant improvements in the lives of 9/11 first responders and others in the 9/11 community.
Don spent nearly a decade representing 9/11 victims and their families in the aviation security litigation, In re September 11 Litigation, and continues to hold a central role in the groundbreaking In re Terrorist Attacks anti-terrorism litigation filed by the 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism. He is honored to attend the FGF's Best of the Best Gala to recognize those who have played a critical role in supporting 9/11 victims.
The FGF's mission is to improve the health and welfare of first responders who were injured as a result of their heroic efforts at the World Trade Center following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including educating elected officials about the challenges first responders face and pairing those in need of medical, legal or other assistance with the proper professional.
In addition, the FGF also provides financial assistance for 9/11 victims and has been a tireless advocate for the reopened Victim Compensation Fund (VCF), which was expanded to provide compensation for first responders and others who suffered significant medical repercussions as a result of exposure to hazardous substances during the 9/11 rescue and cleanup efforts. The VCF was reopened in October 2011 and recently began covering claims involving various types of cancer, including mesothelioma and lung cancer.
