Motley Rice honored with the NAACP J. Arthur Brown Award
Attorney Marlon Kimpson accepts award at local freedom fund banquet
The Charleston Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) presented Mt. Pleasant-based plaintiffs' law firm Motley Rice LLC with the 2007 J. Arthur Brown Award on September 15, 2007, at the organization's 91st Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. Attorney Marlon Kimpson was there to accept the award on behalf of the firm. Senator and U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton was the keynote speaker.
The J. Arthur Brown Award is named in honor of a great Charleston civil rights activist's life and legacy. Brown dedicated his work to the fight for justice and equality for all citizens, emphasizing justice for those of African American decent. Motley Rice's support and involvement both in the Charleston community as well as with the Charleston NAACP embodies the characteristics of Arthur Brown and helped earn them this prestigious award. The Annual Freedom Fund Banquet serves to renew the spirit of Charleston's NAACP chapter. Many illustrious national officials have spoken at the banquets.
