Many Perdue Farms, Inc. personnel facing lawsuits involving alleged immigration violations

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Motley Rice LLC, one of the nation's largest plaintiffs' litigation firms, along with Jacoby & Meyers LLC and Foster P.C., announce today that they have filed a putative class action lawsuit against numerous plant managers and human resource personnel of Perdue Farms, Inc. The complaint was filed on behalf of plaintiffs who allege that the defendants have conspired to knowingly hire large numbers of illegal aliens.   According to the complaint, this "Illegal Immigrant Hiring Scheme" violates the federal immigration laws and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and depresses the wages of legal workers below market levels.

The lawsuit is filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama Southern Division, on behalf of all hourly-paid workers legally authorized to be employed in the United States who are or have been employed by Perdue Farms, Inc. since March 2006 at sixteen poultry processing facilities. The plaintiffs believe that there are likely thousands of Perdue Farms employees who qualify as putative class members. Any hourly wage worker, legally employed at one of the named Perdue facilities between March 2006 and March 2010, who has information about or who believes the conduct alleged in the complaint affects their rights may call +1 800.768.4026 for more information.

The complaint alleges that the scheme was conducted and carried out at the following poultry processing facilities owned and operated by Perdue Farms, Inc.:

Accomac, Virginia

Bridgewater, Virginia

Concord, North Carolina

Cromwell, Kentucky

Dillon, South Carolina

Dothan, Alabama

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Georgetown, Delaware

Lewistown, North Carolina

Milford, Delaware

Monterey, Tennessee

Perry, Georgia

Rockingham, North Carolina

Salisbury, Maryland

Showell, Maryland

Washington, Indiana

"Our clients have alleged that this hiring scheme is perpetrated everyday as an integral part of Perdue's regular hiring and employment practices and that it will continue unabated, victimizing legal workers until halted by judicial intervention," stated Motley Rice attorney Lance Oliver.

Perdue Farms, Inc., is headquartered in Salisbury, Maryland, and claims to be the third largest poultry processing company in the United States with annual sales in excess of $4.6 billion.  The plaintiffs believe that the alleged scheme saves Perdue millions of dollars in labor costs at the expense of legal workers.
