Aviation attorney Mary Schiavo comments on fatal South Carolina crash

Motley Rice attorney and former Department of Transportation Inspector General Mary Schiavo comments on a single-engine Lancair IV-P aircraft that lost its propeller on Monday, March 15, 2010, forcing it to make an emergency landing on Hilton Head Island, SC and resulting in the death of a man who was hit while running on the beach. The plane was en route from from Florida to Virginia when it lost its propeller and allegedly began to leak oil at approximately 13,000 feet. Both the pilot and passenger survived the crash, and Schiavo says that the engine-free aircraft was probably so quiet that the victim never heard it coming.
