Bus Crash Kills: 14 die in New York accident
A casino tour bus overturned on a Bronx highway this weekend, killing 14 people aboard.
Local New York ABC news affiliate, WABC, reported the bus hit a sign support pole and split in half. Local authorities believe speed may have been a factor in the cause of the accident that happened on the New England Thruway around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011.
Motley Rice catastrophic injury attorney Kevin Dean says, " It seems to be a sad reality that tourist and casino travel on buses has become an irresponsible and potentially more dangerous mode of travel on our highways as the companies that cater to such outings seem more interested in speed and lax maintenance than safe delivery of their passengers."
The bus is owned and operated by the charter company World Wide Tours and was filled with at least 31 passengers returning from a casino trip to Connecticut.
