Finding a Cure: Motley Rice supports mesothelioma foundation's research and awareness efforts

Motley Rice is proud to again support the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) as a "2012 Legal Partner for a Cure for Mesothelioma." A national non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for mesothelioma and eradicating the devastating disease, the Foundation takes the following actions:

  • Funds high quality and promising research projects across the globe, including Canada
  • Helps patients connect with mesothelioma experts in order to obtain the most current information on treatment options
  • Advocates in Washington, D.C., for federal mesothelioma research funding

Each year, an estimated 3,000 individuals in the United States and Canada are diagnosed with mesothelioma. These victims are often servicemen, workers, veterans and loved ones who were exposed to asbestos as part of harmful occupational environments. To date, there is still no known cure for mesothelioma, and the average survival length following diagnosis is fewer than 12 months.

Our attorneys pioneered the fight against asbestos manufacturers that began more than 30 years ago when Motley Rice co-founder Ron Motley helped uncover documents exposing the asbestos industry's wrongdoing. He and co-founder Joe Rice also litigated some of the first mass personal injury class action cases to be tried and won by asbestos plaintiffs. Since then, our attorneys have represented more than 100,000 asbestos victims in the U.S. justice system, including more than 6,500 Canadians. We remain at the forefront of this battle, serving as counsel in trial across the nation and playing an instrumental role in maximizing the payments to asbestos victims from both viable defendants and those emerging from bankruptcy.
