MH17 Tragedy Unfolds: Aviation attorneys discuss horrific ending for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17
On July 17, 2014 at approximately 14:15 GMT, (9:15 a.m. EST) Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 lost contact with Ukrainian air traffic control as it was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. According to Malaysian Airlines, the flight carried 283 passengers and 15 crew.
The Boeing 777 commercial airliner was flying at about 33,000 feet over the Ukrainian/Russian border when it was shot down. The airline crashed in the Donetsk region near the town of Torez in eastern Ukraine.
