Deepwater Horizon Legacy: Motley Rice members to speak at oil spill conference

On Wednesday, April 13, 2011, Motley Rice members Kevin Dean and Don Migliori will speak at a conference entitled "Blowout: Legal Legacy of the Deepwater Horizon Catastrophe." The conference, sponsored by Roger Williams University (RWU) School of Law and the Marine Affairs Institute, will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the RWU School of Law in Bristol, R.I.

Leaders from across the nation; elected officials, including Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Jack Reed (D-RI); special guest speakers; and legal experts are joining together at this conference to address issues concerning the BP oil spill and "to examine the law's response to this calamity … [and] consider issues of tort liability, natural resource damages, and changes to law and regulation contemplated by Congress and the President's National Commission."

Dean will speak at 11:00 a.m. in a panel discussion entitled "Assessing Damage to Marine and Human Communities."

Migliori will speak at 1:15 p.m. as part of a panel discussion entitled "Sue or Settle? The Adequacy of Tort Law to Fairly and Expeditiously Compensate Victims of Mass Disasters."
