Fishermen Interrogate Feinberg: Frustrations mount regarding GCCF oil spill payments

Last week, Ken Feinberg, administrator of the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF), was questioned by local fishermen during his two-day visit to Mississippi and southern Louisiana about allegedly sluggish payments and rejected claims.

For many waiting on compensation for losses accrued as a result of the oil spill, the mail may bring the GCCF's denial of a claim or a much smaller payout than anticipated. Dismay continues to mount among victims who claim the GCCF has failed to adequately communicate and denied claims without providing a clear explanation.

Motley Rice oil spill lawyer Kevin Dean stated in response, "Many of them, with documented and legitimate claims, have had their GCCF claims denied…There's been no one there to explain why they were rejected, so you are shooting in the dark as to how to correct or supplement the claim."

Gregg Arnold, a New Orleans charter boat fisherman, was interviewed by WWNO Radio in New Orleans about his personal experience with the GCCF.
