Hip replacement devices recalled by Johnson & Johnson company DePuy Orthopaedics
DePuy® Orthopaedics, a unit ofJohnson & Johnson, issued a statement on Thursday, August 26, 2010, announcing a voluntary recall of two hip replacement implants because some patients experienced pain and required a second hip replacement surgery.
The recalled devices are the ASR™ XL Acetabular System, a total hip replacement system,and the ASR™ Hip Resurfacing System, a partial hip replacement. Patients who have had hip replacements with the recalled devices are advised to visit their surgeons for both an evaluation and annual monitoring.
