RWU School of Law 8th Marine Law Symposium welcomes Motley Rice lawyer Don Migliori as panel member

Motley Rice lawyer Don Migliori, also a "Distinguished Practitioner in Residence" at Roger Williams University (RWU) School of Law, will serve as a speaker at the 8th annual Marine Law Symposium entitled Taking Stock: The Magnuson-Stevens Act Revisited. A biennial event hosted by the Marine Affairs Institute, the symposium will be held at the RWU School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island from Thursday, November 4, 2010 - Friday, November 5, 2010.

The Marine Affairs Institute describes the symposium as follows:

"Since passage in 1976, the Magnuson-Stevens Act has been the basis of one of the most compelling natural resource management issues of our time: the sustainable management of our nation's fisheries. The law has been amended several times and the subject of contentious debate and litigation in response to rapidly evolving information and policy objectives. This Symposium will examine the current and future state of this body of law as a resource management scheme, including the complex integration of scientific, economic, and social information."

Migliori will speak on Friday, November 5, 2010 as part of a panel entitled Fishery Management, Marine Spatial Planning, and Energy. This panel will "examine how fishery management law functions within an evolving management and policy landscape" and will cover such issues as renewable energy development and marine disasters such as the BP Gulf oil spill.
