Lawyer's Statewide Recognition: Lawyer of the Year honors for Motley Rice Member

Donald Migliori named to 2011 Lawyers of the Year lists

PROVIDENCE, RI - (Feb. 17, 2012) - Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly have each selected Motley Rice member Don Migliori as one of their 2011 Lawyers of the Year.

Migliori was recognized for his current role as both co-lead plaintiffs' counsel and liaison counsel for the Composix® Kugel® Mesh MDL, the first MDL litigation in Rhode Island federal court, which includes thousands of cases alleging serious injury or complication related to the hernia patch.

He also served as liaison counsel for the families that opted out of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) in search of answers and accountability. Migliori and the Motley Rice team represented 56 of those 96 claimants. In 2011, they settled the final wrongful death lawsuit, Bavis v. United Airlines Corporation et al., filed by the family of United 175 passenger Mark Bavis.

"Having the honor of representing the families of the people who died on Sept. 11, 2001, remains a humbling privilege," said Migliori in an interview with Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly.

"Don and I have tried cases together in two dozen states and he remains one of the most talented and committed lawyers with whom I have ever tried a case. Migliori also serves on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee for the DePuy® ASR XL MDL In re DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. ASR Hip Implant Products.
