CDC profiles attorney James Ledlie on his passion for public health
Motley Rice attorney James Ledlie was recently featured by the CDC for his work in public health law. The Q&A interview highlights James’ legal career, detailing his significant cases, his current focus areas and lessons he has learned along the way.
“I’ve always been interested in using the court system to advocate for cases that seek to protect the health and safety of both individuals and community health,” said James.
James has represented families and victims harmed by toxic exposure, tobacco and asbestos, among other cases. Currently, he works alongside dozens of other Motley Rice lawyers and co-counsel to combat the country’s most pressing public health threat — the opioid epidemic.
“The CDC estimates 130 Americans die every day from opioid overdoses,” said James. “Civil litigation is one instrument that can help shed light on how we got here and help provide the resources governments and communities need to move forward.”
