World Elder Abuse Awareness Day supported by Motley Rice LLC

Motley Rice proudly supports the Administration on Aging's first federal event to commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). Being held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Great Hall of the Hubert Humphrey Building in Washington, DC, this event will bring together communities and organizations from around the globe in recognition of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.

WEAAD is a day that was declared on behalf of the United Nations International Plan of Action, which acknowledges the importance of elder abuse as a serious public health and human rights issue. By organizing activities, from volunteer and educational programs to cultural and art events, supporters of WEAAD will seek to raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect while promoting active involvement to help rid our communities of this often unrecognized and tragic problem.

Motley Rice understand the challenges facing nursing home and assisted living residents and encourages the celebration of WEAAD in hopes that we can work together towards eliminating a problem affecting some of our world's most vulnerable citizens.
