Rhode Island jury awards $4.8 million verdict to man injured by Bard hernia mesh
Medical device manufacturer C.R. Bard is liable for severe gastrointestinal injuries a Hawaii man developed after receiving the company’s Ventralex™ mesh in a hernia repair. Motley Rice LLC, one of the nation’s largest plaintiffs’ litigation firms, represented plaintiff Paul Trevino in the month-long jury trial, obtaining $4.8 million in compensatory damages for negligence five days after closing arguments were heard in Rhode Island Superior Court.

Trevino alleged that Bard made his hernia mesh device using a low-quality polypropylene plastic that was not safe for use in humans. Trevino suffered severe complications and corrective surgeries after the mesh burrowed into his intestinal tissue over the course of several years.
