Forging a Path: Motley Rice co-founder profiled as one of the "Shrewdest Businessmen Practicing Law"

In a recent newsletter to alumni, the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business profiled Motley Rice co-founder Joe Rice, highlighting his diverse legal practice and numerous business accomplishments. The profile says, "he has forged a path all his own. He's an extraordinary attorney whose success is partly rooted in his understanding of business principles, making him a skilled negotiator."

As a USC School of Business and School of Law graduate (B.S. '76, J.D. '79), Joe is not only making headlines from his work in the courtroom but is also recognized for his many business projects. Among them are golf course development, construction and management; and Empire Sports Management, a sporting events management company that manages sporting events, golf events, and pro-am tournaments, as well as produces an annual charity event that has raised millions of dollars to benefit South Carolina's youth.

"My business background gave me a general understanding of the business world and alternative ways of providing investment opportunities in, around and outside of South Carolina. It gave me understanding for successful diversification," Joe said in the profile.

Joe is proud of his South Carolina roots and USC education, which he believes gave him the foundation for his career, and he is honored to be included in Moore News.
