Motley Rice member Marlon Kimpson named 2018 Leadership in Law honoree

South Carolina Lawyers Weekly named Motley Rice member attorney Marlon Kimpson as a 2018 South Carolina Leadership in Law honoree.  

According to the publication, the award recognizes attorneys from across the Palmetto State who have achieved success in their law practice, made contributions to society and had an impact on the legal profession.

Marlon focuses his practice on representing victims of corporate negligence, from securities fraud to people injured or killed in catastrophic incidents.

In addition, Marlon serves the local community as South Carolina State Senator, representing District 42. He has held leadership roles with the University of South Carolina Board of Visitors, the Charleston Black Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Election Commission.

In 2017, the American Association of Justice Minority Caucus awarded Marlon with its Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Soaring Eagle Award, in recognition of his courageous advocacy to obtain, secure, and preserve freedom, justice, and equity under the law. 

He is a lifetime member of the NAACP and a member of Sigma Pi Phi Boulé and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
