On Thursday, November 4, 2010, a liability verdict was reached in an asbestos lawsuit against John Crane Inc. alleging that the company's asbestos-containing products caused retired West Virginia pipefitter Robert L. Wood to be diagnosed with mesothelioma. The unanimous verdict, handed down by the Honorable Ronald Wilson in Charleston, WV circuit court, found John Crane liable for failing to warn Wood about the hazardous products with which he worked, including defective gaskets.
