Ten years ago Sunday, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the most devastating terrorist attack in American history. September 11, 2001, also marked a day when thousands across the globe came together in unity, not only to grieve but also to honor and cherish the memories of loved ones and strangers alike.
We would like to pay tribute on this day of remembrance to the victims of an unspeakable tragedy and the survivors, families and friends who have helped keep their memories alive while also courageously fighting to seek justice against those responsible.
We also want to share our profound respect and admiration for the many family members and survivors who have tirelessly fought to support others, uncover the truth behind the attacks and hold accountable the financiers of terrorism. It has been an honor to work with you, and we will continue to stand by your side as you advance the cause of justice for our nation—and the world.
In a recent letter to families of 9/11 victims, Ron Motley stated:
Your lives were, and are, inexorably changed, as is the world, and I understand that you will always struggle with the effects of that day, so I would like to offer you my thoughts and condolences as the anniversary approaches … You have honored the memory of your loved ones who were in the air, in the Towers and the Pentagon. You have honored, in the best form of humanity, the firemen and the police and those who resisted in the air as they and many unsung heroes fought back and fought to save one another. You honored us all in your inexhaustible battle to uncover the truth behind how these attacks were carried out and by whom were they aided and abetted. You have used this last ten years to focus the world's attention on how terrorism like this is accomplished and to hold supporters of terrorism accountable; and to dry up the money pipeline that allows their cowardice to continue.
On this anniversary of an important day in our history, all of us at Motley Rice support you and hold you in our thoughts, prayers and humble service.
