Motley Rice has filed a 13-count civil complaint in Arizona state court on behalf of “Jane Doe” alleging that she was sexually assaulted by an Uber driver following a ride in January 2026, and that Uber Technologies, Inc. and its subsidiary Rasier, LLC failed to adequately protect her.According to the complaint, the plaintiff was transported by her driver after a night out, during which she was visibly intoxicated and without her phone. The complaint alleges that after making a stop to drop off Jane Doe’s friend at her residence, the driver returned Jane Doe to his vehicle and later transported her for several hours to an unknown location, during which time the assault occurred. Following the assault by the Uber driver, Jane Doe conceived a child as a result of the assault and is now pregnant. On this PageRideshare sexual abuse lawsuit claimsMotley Rice’s experience with sexual abuse litigation Rideshare sexual abuse lawsuit claimsThe lawsuit asserts numerous causes of action against Uber, Rasier and the driver, Ricky Rosales. These include negligence; vicarious liability; negligent performance of an undertaking to render services; negligence per se; negligent infliction of emotional distress; negligent misrepresentation; fraudulent concealment; civil conspiracy; violations of the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act; negligent training, supervision and retention; assault and battery; and strict products liability claims for failure to warn and design defect. The complaint alleges that Uber heavily markets its services as safe – especially to intoxicated female riders, maintains significant control over drivers while failing to implement adequate safeguards, background checks or monitoring systems to identify and remove dangerous individuals. It further alleges the company misrepresented the safety of its platform and concealed known risks of sexual assault by drivers, prioritizing growth and driver onboarding over rider safety.“Uber specifically targeted its service as a safe option for women traveling home, but we allege they failed to deliver on that promise for our client. We strongly believe Uber’s conduct harmed our client and that our client’s complaint reveals a systemic pattern that can endanger riders nationwide,” stated Carmen S.
