On behalf of Hoboken train crash victim, New Jersey law firm co-counsels with Motley Rice

The Law Office of Alexander L. Locatelli, Esq., of West New York, New Jersey, has brought on Motley Rice, including transportation attorney, former U.S. DOT Inspector General and CNN analyst Mary Schiavo, and member Vin Greene, in representing a passenger who suffered permanent, serious injuries in the Hoboken train crash that killed one person and injured more than 100 others Sept. 29, 2016.

The train was carrying roughly 250 passengers when it failed to come to a stop on the tracks at the New Jersey Transit terminal, crashing through a barrier and wall at the terminal, according to news reports. The wreckage released toxic asbestos and debris into the air, delaying a National Transportation Safety Board investigation in the days following the incident.

A data recorder that could have provided some insight into the wreck was not functional when the crash occurred, reports indicate. Another recorder retrieved from the scene showed that the train was traveling 21 mph at the time of the crash.

When questioned by NTSB investigators, the train’s conductor stated that he did not notice anything unusual about the speed prior to the wreck. An engineer who was also on board reported having no memory of the collision.

The cause of the devastating event has not yet been determined. For more information, read NTSB’s preliminary report in full.
