Motley Rice has been named as one of the nation’s “Most Feared Plaintiffs Firms” in Law360’s inaugural list. Law360 included 10 other firms and says the plaintiffs firms listed “strike fear” in the hearts of opposing counsel.
The Law360 feature on Motley Rice noted that the firm holds a strong reputation among both plaintiffs’ firms and defense firms alike, according to Fayard & Honeycutt attorney Calvin Fayard, Jr., one of the lead negotiators of the BP Deepwater Horizon settlement agreement.
Member Don Migliori also noted co-founder Ron Motley’s significant contributions to the firm, saying “a large part of the firm's litigation ethos and reputation — built from an initial focus on mass torts involving multiple victims, backed by "rigorous" discovery — had been built on Motley's ‘tremendous’ talents.”
The article also highlights the firm’s work in major litigation, including representing victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks, Gulf Coast businesses, workers and residents hurt by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and thousands of people allegedly hurt by a hernia repair patch.
According to Law360, the primary factor considered in selecting the winners was the firms' performance in high-profile or complex cases between July 1, 2011, and July 1, 2013, including significant court rulings, trial victories and settlements.
