In an opinion issued on Sept. 30, 2013, the First Court of Appeals affirmed a lower court’s ruling and upheld the legality of two of Providence, R.I.’s city tobacco control ordinances which prohibit coupons and multi-pack discounts on tobacco products.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, Motley Rice member Marlon Kimpson was elected to the South Carolina State Senate representing District 42, which includes Charleston and Dorchester counties.

At Charleston City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., read a proclamation that officially declared September 26 as Mesothelioma Awareness Day in the City of Charleston, S.C.
