Arab Bank trial team named finalist for 2016 Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award

On June 8, 2016, Public Justice announced five finalists for its annual Trial Lawyer of the Year award, including the Motley Rice Arab Bank trial team for its September 2014 victory when a Brooklyn, N.Y., jury found Arab Bank liable for intentionally financing HAMAS. This case, consolidated under the name Linde v. Arab Bank, PLC, marked the first time that a financial institution had been brought to trial under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and the first time that a financial institution had been found liable under the ATA for the financing of terrorism.

Motley Rice attorneys Michael Elsner, John Eubanks and Jodi Westbrook Flowers worked with co-counsel and others on the decade-long litigation and 2014 trial.

According to Public Justice, the award “celebrates and recognizes the work of an attorney or team of attorneys working on behalf of individuals and groups that have suffered injustices and harmful abuse.” The winner will be announced on July 24, 2016. Read more about the finalists.
