Egyptian Bus Crash: California family sues Boston's Grand Circle Travel
Claims negligence and other wrongdoing after suffering horrific injuries in Aswan, Egypt, bus crash
MT. PLEASANT, SC - The husband and family of Frances Einhorn recently filed a ten-count negligence and breach of contract lawsuit against Boston-based Grand Circle LLC in connection with an Aswan, Egypt, bus crash that took the lives of nine people and injured numerous others.
Filed in Massachusetts Superior Court , the civil action alleges that Grand Circle is liable for the death of Frances Einhorn, as well as lifelong injuries and emotional trauma suffered by her husband, David Einhorn, as a result of the crash. The complaint states that Grand Circle and its agents acted negligently in failing to prevent the crash and breached an implied contract with its customers to provide safe passage while they participated in Grand Circle's Ancient Egypt and The Nile tour of Egypt. The tour was operated under the auspices of Grand Circle LLC's trade name, Grand Circle Travel.
The Einhorn lawsuit has been consolidated with the previously-filed case of Elizabeth Loo Vinnedge, also a victim of the crash who is represented by Motley Rice. Read the complaint here.
"In the blink of an eye, David Einhorn lost the love of his life and his best friend of 49 years. David and Frances Einhorn, a married couple from West Hills, Calif., were riding on the contracted Grand Circle tour bus in the pre-dawn hours of Dec. 26, 2010. According to the complaint, the tour's program director slept as the bus traveled at recklessly high speeds on an unlit road that was under construction. The bus collided with a disabled dump truck on the side of the road, and the force of the collision almost completely sheared off the right side of the bus.
Frances Einhorn was thrown from the bus on impact and died at the scene of the crash. David Einhorn, while suffering from numerous cracked ribs, torn wrist ligaments and severe trauma elsewhere on his body, had to identify his wife's body at the scene. This lawsuit seeks to hold Grand Circle Travel accountable to those whose lives were forever changed by the crash .
