A twin-engine Beechcraft 95 crashed on the evening of Tuesday October 8, 2024. According to reports, the pilot and four passengers lost their lives.
The crash occurred on Santa Catalina Island off the Southern California coast. An FAA online incident report stated that the crash occurred under “unknown circumstances” at some time during takeoff from Catalina Airport. FAA and National Transportation and Safety Board officials will investigate the incident.
“While it’s too early to speculate on what may have caused this crash, we do know that the Beech Baron aircraft has been at the center of several tragic disasters in recent years due to apparent design flaws and mechanical failures, and pilots and passengers have tragically lost their lives,” said Motley Rice aviation attorney Jim Brauchle, a former Air Force Navigator.
“My colleagues and I have worked for years to investigate the mechanics of these aircraft and we believe their safety has been a question for far too long. No family should ever have to wonder whether their loved one’s life is in danger due to something as preventable as a mechanical failure.”
We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and families affected by this plane crash in California. In times like these, we are reminded of the importance of aviation safety and the need for accountability.
