Super Lawyers profiles Motley Rice attorney Don Migliori

In its 2015 New England edition, Super Lawyers® Magazine profiled Motley Rice member and 2015 Rhode Island Super Lawyer Don Migliori as a trial lawyer who “creates change by ‘challenging truth’”.

The feature article details Migliori’s career beginnings as “wanting to quit law and open [his] own restaurant to working on the most exciting and energizing case of my life,” as Ron Motley’s new protégé against ‘Big Tobacco’. He said that was 20 years ago and he hasn’t looked back since. The profile discusses his work in the historic tobacco litigation to representing 56 families who opted out of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund to representing retired NFL players and those injured by Kugel Mesh.

Fellow attorney Patrick Jones of the firm Jones Kelleher who has worked closely with Don on several cases through the years told Super Lawyers, “He’s well suited to David-and-Goliath litigation because he sees the big picture and is able to break the case down into simple propositions that resonate with decision-makers. It’s part intelligence, part sensitivity, part fearlessness and part instinct.”

When asked why he does the work he does, he said, “True learning only comes when you take responsibility, and I have seen through all these cases – Big Tobacco, September 11, Kugel Mesh – that it does change conduct in the long run. I’m certainly not taking all the credit, but unearthing truthful, complete information is a big deal. I know I may be an idealist in the way I do things, but that’s because I believe in it.”

In addition to Migliori’s feature, Super Lawyers honored several Motley Rice attorneys also in the New England-area.

About Super Lawyers

The Super Lawyers® list recognizes only five percent of lawyers in the United States and spans more than 70 practice areas, evaluating contributions to, and leadership roles in, the legal profession. Selections are based on an extensive rating process that relies on peer nominations and evaluations, as well as third-party research. The Rising Stars list names lawyers who are 40-years-old or younger and have been practicing law for ten years or less. Fewer than three percent of lawyers in each state receive this honor. Both lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers® magazines and in city and regional magazines across the country. Learn more about the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists selection process.
