Nigel Halliday represents whistleblowers, consumers and investors seeking accountability for fraud, and other victims of corporate negligence or government wrongdoing.

Nigel helps whistleblowers hold big companies accountable for large-scale fraud, particularly under the False Claims Act (FCA) and its state equivalents. He currently represents a whistleblower who alleges that some of the nation’s largest banks defrauded state and local governments by rigging the interest rates on certain government bonds. Nigel also represents a whistleblower who alleges that major defense contractors obtained billions in federal funding by concealing their role in a sweeping human trafficking scheme that trapped thousands of people from the developing world in conditions of indentured servitude. Additionally, he helps whistleblowers report corporate misconduct to government regulatory and law enforcement agencies including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Prior to joining Motley Rice, Nigel worked as an associate at a plaintiffs’ litigation firm where his work covered a wide range of issues—from representing families of children who allege Instagram and other social media platforms encouraged addictive behavior in order to maximize screen time, to representing state governments suing polluters who contaminated the environment with toxic forever chemicals, to representing local governments suing opioid companies for creating and fueling the opioid epidemic that claims thousands of American lives every year. He also worked on a series of unjust enrichment lawsuits on behalf of the family of a woman whose cells were wrongfully biopsied and used to create the first human cell line.

Nigel served as Managing Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law while in law school. He was inducted into the Order of the Coif, among other honors and clerked for the Honorable Tu Pham in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
