Toyota announces third global vehicle recall

On Monday, February 8, 2010, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. announced a voluntary recall on 2010 Model Year Prius vehicles and Lexus Division 2010 HS 250h vehicles to allow for updates to the softwarein the vehicles' anti-lock brake systems (ABS). No additional Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles have been included in this recall.

This recall is Toyota's third in recent months and, like the first two recalls, involves potentially hazardous braking issues. The total number of affected vehicles is now approximately seven million, and Toyota President Akio Toyoda is assuring consumers that his "commitment to quality" will continue as the company attempts to solve their quality control issues.
